The Log Overview

The Log has been developed to increase the accuracy and efficiency of logging incidents that occur on the UK railways. Furthermore, The Log fulfils the requirements of a modern Control Centre by providing a system to log incidents quickly and distribute them to the relevant personnel throughout the organisation.

The LOG was originally developed for ScotRail as part of the project to move from Gemini to Genius. It is designed to log incidents and then to automatically publish the logs to a corporate Intranet. This enables everyone with access to the corporate network to view detailed incident reports from any location/PC within the company. The Log enables the user to select and analyse the incident reports for any specific day, the current week or retrospectively for a previous month or period.

All log entries and amendments to log entries are audited with specific detail about changes made and who made the changes. The log will assist in producing the Morning Teleconference log sheet, a Synopsis of Incidents by Service Group, and Punctuality by Service Group. All these details can be automatically published to the Intranet for self-service reporting by senior management or other relevant personnel.
